I still haven't played 2, but I thought 3 had probably the best writing I've seen in a video game. Really got me down a rabbit hole looking for more mature fantasy like it. I'll eventually play 2, I'm a sony guy so hoping a remaster or re-release in the future. Great post!
Oh, Witcher 3 is an incredible game! Completely unmatched! I think because I played 2 first and it was my first foray into the world, I love to remind people of its existence! 😅 Hopefuly you'll get to play the Witcher 1 remake cause that's great too!
I like your 'completed the game' terminology, which is much more positive than my old arcade lingo of 'clocking the game' which now sounds like clocking out of a job...

So are you saying you've never played through the Roche branch? I did it once just to see! I most definitely prefer the Iorveth path even for purely story reasons, not to mention that Iorveth is my best bud and I'm just as salty that he got edited out of The Witcher 3 (I think I read somewhere that CDPR planned to put him in there at some point).
The Witcher 2 was my first experience with branching storylines. It was very impressive to find out that the choice at the end of the first chapter alters the game experience completely. I think it's a bold move, and when it works, boy it works.

I know, I know.... it's silly that I haven't done Roche's route. I started a new playthrough while writing this so I'm going to try (I don't know why I didn't make a save at the crucial point so I don't have to keep playing the first part of the game 😅) Now I think of it, Witcher 1 had a similar thing where you had to choose between helping an elf or some guy!
Wait... are you saying Iorveth WAS in Witcher 3, but he was edited out? What were CD thinking?! He's such a good character!
I don't know how they do it! It's just incredible to think there's thousands of words, lines of dialogues and actions we won't see based on our character's choices! So much replayability!
